I could see and sketch from an opening in the scaffolding last year, but this year I had to ignore the chain-linked fence casting criss-cross-patterned shadows on my sketchbook and covering up the view. I can see all the way to highrises in Westwood, near UCLA. I had time to sketch the view facing south, too. I sketched the empty freeway last year, and I biked back to the same spot facing north on Sunset bridge to sketch it again this year. It also gave me an excuse to bike to the section of Sunset Blvd. Travel across town, and I think it worked in reducing congestion. The residents were told to stay in the local area and/or allow plenty of time to This is a “2” because the freeway was shut down last year, too. “Carmageddon” is a twist on the words “car” and “Armageddon”, since city officials believe that having usual amount of cars on the road while this stretch of the 405 is closed will lead to massive traffic. This is a major closure since 405 freeways is one of the busiest freeway in the US. This weekend was what Los Angeles locals called “Carmageddon 2”, when 405 freeway was shut down between 10 freeway and 101 freeway so old overpass can be demolished. ![]()
